Sunset at Imperial Sand Dunes

So far the images I have shared from Imperial Sand Dunes in California have been wildly disparate.

On one hand I had the untouched sand dunes sculpted by the wind. On the other the raging dune buggies, ATVs and motorcycles.

I decided to make an attempt at combining the two concepts and I got a chance at sunset one evening when the “duners” were just coming home.

I really like how the peacefulness of the evening sky contrasts with the excitement of being on the top of a dune ready to race down.

Hi Anne. Just found your web site and its very interesting. My wife and I and just finished travelling through the southwest over the past three months. Valley of Fire is one of our favourite stops and one other you should consider is Kelso Dunes in the Mojave Desert just south of Baker California. Great dunes to explore and photograph. Also try Canyon de Chelly in northeast Arizona. awesome spot with cliff dwellings. However the best place on earth is the Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia (Penticton). You have some great photos, keep up the good work.

    Regards,
    Bruce and Jennifer

Hi Bruce and Jennifer, I live on Vancouver Island (now just in the summers) but I haven’t been to Penticton in years. You have reminded me I really should do a trip through BC again, especially now that I am a photographer! Canyon de Chelly is also on my list of places I have wanted to visit but haven’t made it to yet. Thank you very much for your visit and comments!
