With the Editing with Photoshop Elements Video Course by Anne McKinnell
To get started, you don’t need to know every single thing that Photoshop Elements can do, let alone the full version of Photoshop. That would take weeks! In this course we focus on the essentials for photographers.
These 8 videos total a little under 2 hours. You'll be able to watch each video, then complete the steps on your own photos, and in half a day you'll be off and running with Photoshop Elements.
The reason you're in Photoshop in the first place is to do more advanced photo editing that you cannot to in Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom. This course focusses on those editing skills. It does not cover photo organizing or raw processing.
Lesson 1: Moving Between Lightroom and Photoshop Elements
If you use Lightroom, it's essential to learn how to get your photos into Photoshop Elements and have the edited image automatically return to your Lightroom catalog.
Length: 6 minutes, 10 seconds
Lesson 2: Becoming Familiar with the Interface
Become comfortable with the workspace, toolbar, tool options, task bar and layers panel. You'll learn to set up a custom workspace so you can see exactly what you need at all times.
Length: 11 minutes, 9 seconds
Lesson 3: Layers
Each adjustment you make to your image can be placed on a new layer. That's called non-destructive editing and it makes it easy to change each adjustment, or even delete it, later.
Length: 18 minutes, 47 seconds
Lesson 4: Healing and Cloning
Remove unwanted objects from your image. No one wants dust spots, random garbage cans or dead tree branches to cause distractions.
Length: 19 minutes, 1 second
Lesson 5: Layer Masks
By using masks, you can apply each adjustment to a specific part of your image without affecting the whole thing.
Length: 7 minutes, 36 seconds
Lesson 6: Blend Modes
Blend modes can be used to blend different versions of the same image, add textures, or blend two entirely different images together.
Length: 10 minutes, 13 seconds
Lesson 7: Blending Exposures
Replace a boring sky with dramatic clouds.
Length: 14 minutes, 52 seconds
Lesson 8: Selections
Using selections gives you precise control over your adjustments. Learn to use selections, layers and layer masks together.
Length: 22 minutes, 14 seconds
Photoshop Elements contains all of the tools and features we photographers need to edit our photos. Plus, it is much less expensive than the full version of Photoshop - especially if you don’t upgrade it every time a new release comes out.
I typically use my software for at least 2 years before upgrading. Photoshop Elements costs $100. You’ll pay $9.99 a month for the full version of Photoshop costing $239.76 over 2 years. So with Photoshop Elements you save at least $140.
People like my teaching style. They say I can take complex topics and make them easy to understand without using a lot of “techno lingo.” My style is to communicate only what is necessary and get to the point. There is no fluff.
