On June 8th I received a huge surprise when I opened my email in the morning. One of my long time goals has been achieved, I got photo of the day at BetterPhoto.com!!!
It seems the legislature has turned in to one of my favourite places to photograph. Who knew? I would never have suspected that to be the case, but it is great place stretch your creativity and attempt to capture the same subject in a new way.
Here is a version taken in the soft light of the early evening. I took it at an angle to make the lines more dynamic.
This version I took from the Songhees walkway across the harbour. Taken at twilight, my favourite time of day, I zoomed the lens while the shutter was open to emphasize the lights.
Since I have created so many images of the legislature already, it is going to get harder to capture something new. I think it will force me to get more creative. Some people even limit themselves to taking a photo from the exact same spot every day and try to achieve something different each time.
Try it! There are so many options with lens choice, time of day, lighting, point of view and even the use of filters.
