Only a photog could complain about beautiful blue sky sunny warm days in Yosemite! The best shots I have seen have been when a storm is clearing, but there were no storms on our trip. The weather was fantastic.
Sunrise in Cook’s Meadow

During the heat and brightness of the day, I found myself looking for and choosing between the stunning locations to select for the sunset shot. Last light on the tops of the mountains is an amazing view to behold and when you can get it reflecting in the river it makes it even more special.
Here are two of my favourite sunset locations:
Half Dome from Sentinal Bridge

Gates of the Valley

All fabulous images, Anne. Well done.
Great writing! I want to see a follow up to this topic 🙂

I love the first and last photo! Very nice.
Love the shots of Yosimite. Was there last summer for 3 days shooting the area. I violated a cardinal rule of backing up your photos and had a hard drive crash and lost them all. Sure learned a tough lesson. Will go back and shoot it again.
Hi Larry,
Thanks for your comment. I moved to a Mac and it has “time machine” that automatically backs up everything I think every hour or so and it has saved me once already. It’s a mistake everyone makes, but such a shame to loose Yosemite images, that would have crushed me. I hope you get back to try again.
Anne.
So true Anne – especially when the air is hazy. The Valley is always a challenge when the skies are clear, but you certainly made some great images.
