Coming home from a big camping trip to Yosemite at the end of September, we happened upon a town that was a pleasant surprise as it was not part of our travel plans. Rather than driving up the I-5 to return to Canada, we decided to go back to the Oregon Coast and revisit some of our favourite spots from last year. Crescent City California is a mere 20 miles south of the border between California and Oregon. We enjoyed the beautiful beaches, the jetty and pier, sandpipers and pelicans, great food and were treated to one of the best sunsets ever.
There was exciting wave action on the jetty.
The Pier was made especially moody with the fog in the background.
The sandpipers were so cute I almost jumped for joy when they all lined up in a neat little row.
One of the best sunsets I have ever seen behind Battery Point Lighthouse. I took this opportunity to create a great cloud library as well.
This shot was taken only 10 minutes after the previous shot. The big cloud sank and it got quite a bit darker dramatically changing the sunset in a matter of minutes. Also the lights came on brightening up the lighthouse.
All are very nice, but the last one with the light on the lighthouse is awesome. Love it!
Beautiful pics, Anne! Crescent City area has a lot to offer to photographers. Sometimes I wish we still lived on the coast so we could capture the mystery of fog and funny shots like your sandpipers, which is priceless 🙂
Great series, I like the photo with the pier the best.
The lighthouse photos are my favorite. I can’t make up my mind which one of the two scenes I like the most.
Thank you for your visit and comments Valeriano, much appreciated. Crescent City was beautiful!
