The badlands have a way of making a person feel small within its vastness and ancient history. You think back to prehistoric times when dinosaurs, saber-toothed cats and miniature camels and horses roamed here. The buttes themselves feel timeless.
The landscape changes suddenly from an “ocean of prairie” to its sharp buttes. It changes constantly, every year loosing an inch as more sediment is washed away by the rains.
Timeless but ever changing.
Lovely image Anne. You captured the moment!
Lovely colors and scene!
Love the light and the colors here, Anne, what a wonderful photo!
Hi Anne – I have really been enjoying hearing about your travels and seeing the images you have captured along the way. I think this is my favorite so far. The Badlands seem to be an under-appreciated landscape and you have done a really nice job of capturing their beauty. I really love this photo.
Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for your kind comments. Badlands was a great place to visit and I would love to go back. The desolate landscape provides so many opportunities for photography.
This is such a gorgeous image Anne! You’ve really captured the soul of the Badlands with its full palette of color in this one. This image alone, beckons me to visit the Badlands sooner than I had planned.
May you continue your journey with godspeed.
Hi Christie, wow, I captured the soul of the badlands? Mission accomplished!! Thank you so much, that means a lot to me!
