Ingonish is one of the larger villages in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Here the highland hills tower over the Atlantic Ocean and the beaches are covered with perfect round red stones. A stately resort named Keltic Lodge sits atop one of the cliffs.
This photo shows an outbuilding of the lodge, not the main resort, and you can see Ingonish beach in the background.
This is a hand-held high dynamic range image, made by taking 3 exposures and blending them together.
The composition is excellent Anne. Another beautiful image.
Thanks again Edith, really appreciate all the kind words.
Great shot. What time of day did you take this?
Hi Larry, I took this shot at 1pm, right in the mid-day harsh light, which is why the HDR technique was necessary for bringing out the colours and compensating for the bright sky. Thanks for your comment.
Beautiful Ann – looks like such a tranquil spot. You’re really visiting some wonderful country.
Thanks Russ, we are really enjoying our time in the Maritimes, it is beautiful over here on the east coast.
What a wonderful composition with great color Anne. I could see myself at that lodge for quite a while.
Thanks Len. Yeah, I could stay at that lodge for awhile too. The lodge itself is actually a much more impressive building. They have awesome views and that beach in background is great. I will do a post with some images from that beach next week.
Great picture of Ceilidh Hall at our Cape Breton Resort! The colours of this photo are remarkable – thank you for sharing this wonderful shot!
Hi Keltic Lodge, welcome! I didn’t know it was the Ceilidh Hall, thanks for letting me know so I can improve my captions! Because we are travelling in an RV we didn’t get to experience staying at the lodge, but it is a beautiful place with amazing views and we would definitely stay there if we didn’t bring out home with us. While we were wandering around your grounds, we noticed how happy the employees looked! Must be a great place to work.
beautiful picture …in many ways it reminds me of the coast lands of Ireland or Scottish Highlands….truly stunning views and pictures as usual….Kindest Regards ann
