Today I am so excited to be launching my very first eBook titled “8 Types of Natural Light That Will Add Drama to Your Photographs”. The best part of all is that I am offering it for free!
All you need to do is enter your email address below and you will receive a copy of my eBook and my monthly newsletter.
If the title of this eBook sounds familiar it is because the first four chapters appeared on my blog as tutorials last year. Now there is more information, more photographs, a beautiful layout, and it is still free.
The eBook is designed for new or amateur photographers but even those who have been at it for awhile may learn something – and there’s no risk when it’s free! Learning how different types of light impact your photographs will not only help you create photographs with more drama, but it will help you decide what type of photograph to make at a given time.
I am giving the eBook away for free for a number of reasons:
- to celebrate my new life: it’s been almost 6 months since I’ve been on the road and I have a new website, new galleries, my first magazine cover and now my first ebook;
- to build an audience: this first year of my travels is all about becoming a better photographer and sharing what I learn about photography and about life with others – I’ll worry about selling stuff later.
- free is good, everyone likes free.
In addition to the eBook, you will also receive my monthly newsletter which will have updates from my trip (great if you don’t have time to visit the blog everyday – I understand), my new images, free wallpapers, and links to any new tutorials that I write.
So sign-up now!
Congratulations on the 6 months and the launch of the ebook. One question, how many pages and photographs would one expect to see in it? Oh and what was the magazine cover? Thats quite an accomplishment in itself.
Look forward to reading this.
Hi Chris, thank you! The eBook is 32 pages and contains 38 photographs. You can read about my magazine cover here:

Thanks for your visit and comments.
This is so cool – congrats! Signed up and can’t wait to read it. 🙂
Thanks for signing up Christy! I hope you enjoy the book.
Anne,
I recieved your newsletter yesterday and downloaded the eBook immediately. Congratulations! It’s just wonderful. I read it from cover to cover. The information you provide is great and the images in it are outstanding.
Thank you so much Edith! I really appreciate all the support and encouragement you always give me. I’m so glad you enjoyed the book.
Anne,
Congratulations to the launch of your first e-book! I just got my copy, and it’s a beautiful book. I especially enjoy the balance between the text and the dominance of the photos for the topics you’re trying to highlight and illustrate.
Kudos!
Thank you so much for the great compliment Henry! It was fun to do a project where I did the photography and the writing as well as the design of the book. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
Found your website through a retweet by RBlackPhoto. I enjoyed reading your first eBook! You covered all the bases and your photos are awesome. It was an easy read in a conversational style. Looking forward to following your adventure through your photos and blog.
Hi Jimmy, thank you very much for finding me and leaving your comments. Robin Black is a wonderful photographer whose work I have followed for about a year now and I am very glad to meet you through her. I’m so glad you enjoyed the book. I’m going to visit your website now 🙂
Oh, under construction 🙁 Well, let me know when your website is there or maybe you have something on G+?
Congratulations Anne, I’m looking forward to reading it!
Thank you very much Curt, I hope you like it.
Congratulations on everything. It is wonderful to follow your journey and your sucesses! Go Girl!
Thanks for all the encouragement Piper!
Congrats Anne. Great news. I will certainly sign up for the newsletter and download the e-book. I’m sure a book about your adventure will be upcoming…
Hi Len, thank you very much, I hope you enjoy the book. Yes, I will have to write something about my adventure, but it will probably be about the concept of risk and career change rather than just the places I have visited.
Thank you Anne for putting together a beautifully done guide to natural lighting that’s simple and easy to understand yet elegant with real photo world application, and for free!! I have shared it with my “Beginners” photography circle on Google+ and have encouraged others to do the same. You should be proud that you will have undoubtedly helped many people new to photography to “see the light” and remind us that are not beginners to take a step back once in a while and take notice.
Michael, thank you so much for your visit and very kind words. I really appreciate your taking the time to leave such a nice review of the book. It’s great to think I can help people on their our journeys.
Hi Anne,
I finally took a few moments to go thru your site. Very beautiful pics, very interesting contents. I will come back…
Cristi
Hi Cristi! Great to see you here. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments. Sorry for the late reply, I have been camping in the everglades in Florida and there is no internet access there. It’s great to hear from someone at home, I sometimes wonder if any of my real life friends come here or only my internet photography friends 🙂 I hope all is going well for you. I miss you guys! But I guess now I’m the one with all the international stories, there’s a change! Say hi to everyone! I hope they don’t think I hated my old life or anything, I’m just on a new path now.
Live the moment, Anne! We never know what tomorrow will bring. Sorry for the cheap hint, as if from “A buck or two” stores. I can feel your joy the same way one feels the warmth inside the coffee cup by holding it by the handle. I am good, I am working hard, but that’s the old story, right?! I will say hi to everyone here from you. I don’t think you hated anything, I did not get that far with speculations. I just think what a joy travelling must bring. I am glad to hear you are doing okay, but this being glad is so silent that I must write it to at least be read, if not heard…
You are so sweet Cristi, thanks for writing, I can feel the warmth all the way over here in Florida!
I got too serious, Anne 🙂 Don’t step on caimans, please. They are so fragile…
HA! Ok, I’ll remember that. But I’m more afraid they might step on me.
Happy New Year, Anne! It must have been a sunny Christmas for you.
Hi Cristi, Happy New Year to you too! We spent Christmas in the Florida Keys and then moved back up to the everglades for new years. It was warm and sunny and absolutely beautiful. I love Florida!! I sure don’t miss that wet greyness that happens back home in winter. The summers are pretty nice at home though and I bet they are unbearable here in Florida. How was your holiday?
Loved the eBook. Even though I’m a filmmaker and not a photographer we both need light to create beautiful imagery.
What program did you design your eBook in? I think it turned out great!
Hi Kevin, thank you so much for your feedback about the ebook, I’m so glad you liked it and found it useful. I made it in Keynote (Mac version of power point) and then converted it to PDF. Keynote is easy to use and layer the text and images.
