On Tybee Island, a barrier island near Savannah, Georgia, sunset brought the most even soft light. The beaches faces east, of course, and I knew I should visit at sunrise, but I didn’t. I went at sunset hoping there would be some clouds that would reflect the sun’s rays. No luck there, but the sky turned a pastel pink that was like the icing on a cupcake. A group of young girls came out and were having the best time jumping over the waves.
I made this image using a one second exposure that would both soften the ocean waves and capture the fun the girls were having jumping over them.
Terrific light Anne. Well done
Thank you very much Len, I appreciate it.
The light here is beautiful Anne. And it looks like they’re having a lot of fun.
Hi Steven, thank you very much for your visit and comments. I couldn’t help but watch this group of kids because they really were having a grand time. I wanted to join in. You know what, I think I am going to jump waves myself next time I’m at the beach! I remember how much fun it was as a kid, and why should the kids have all the fun? ๐
Beautiful shot Anne.
Thank you very much Edith!
Great light and well done for not giving up and pulling off an interesting and emotive shot. Who has not jumped waves at sunset….great times
Thank you very much Chris. It is fun doing the long exposures and I just about changed my settings to photograph the kids, but then though it would good to leave the motion blur in there to capture the jumping action. Glad you liked it.
Outstanding shot, Anne! Love the soft colors. ๐
Thanks Jimi!
