For some reason I don’t like to start showing new places on a Friday, so I decided to put up one more image from Daytona Beach today. This one was taken from the top floor of that shopping center complex I showed yesterday. It shows a couple of hotels on the left and the view of the fantastic beach.

I made this image by taking 3 handheld exposures and blending them together using Photomatix. Photomatix is so good at matching features in the exposures, you can do this without using a tripod. I usually prefer to use a tripod, but if I don’t have it with me it doesn’t stop me from making HDR images. I then polished it off in Nik Color Efex Pro.
Next week I will have some photos from the Kennedy International Space Center and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. I’m so excited to start getting into some of the great wildlife found in Florida! Have a great weekend.
An unusual but really effective composition, Anne
Thank you Andy!
I agree with Andy. I like the composition and how the leading line and color work together.
Thanks Len! I liked the violet in the hotel on the left (my favourite colour) and was surprised about the yellow next to it. Hard to mix those colours without the easter egg effect, but it seems to work with all the other colours in Daytona. It’s a very colourful place!
STUNNING! Absolutely stunning! LOVE the colors and tones here, and the details on the beach keep on giving as you spend time soaking in all the wonderful details! Dang, I love this place!
Thanks Toad. Did you notice the cars on the beach? Oh you would just love driving that corvette of yours along the hard sand – although there is a speed limit. I can’t imagine what it must have been like when they raced there. At the speedway there are some awesome photos of the race on the beach in the old days.
It would be a lifelong dream, to be honest, my friend! Daytona is a stunning place, but also, it’s a true icon of the past that really means so much to us up here! Really loved this post, thanks Anne!
GORGEOUS!! I don’t like starting a new series on a Friday either! It’s gotta be Monday 🙂
Thank you so much Heather! I really appreciate your support and friendship.
It’s lovely, Anne! There is so much complexity in the photo – it reminds me of a complicated jigsaw puzzle – but at the same time this is balanced by the simplicity in the sea/sky portion…and that lovely oblique line of sand joins the two halves. Great work! You have inspired me to write “try HDR” on my to-do list.
Hi Laurie, oh yes, you should try HDR! It is a ton of fun. You can download a trial version of photomatix that makes it easy to combine the exposures. Even if it doesn’t turn out to be your thing in the end, it is really fun to try out – you will be surprised with the results.
I agree with everyone…great composition. Stunning shot.
Thank you so much Edith, you were missed while you were away!
Great shot with lines of composition very effective
Thank you again Robert, I appreciate your comments about the composition of the image.
