Fridays seem to require something a little different. More fun. Extra embellishment. It’s important as a photographer and artist to try different things, get out of your comfort zone, make and share something new.
So today I want to share with you my painted snowy egret. I made this photograph at the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge in Florida.
These birds are so splendidly graceful. They stand in statuesque silence until suddenly the wings are raised and they leap into the air, soaring and swooping overhead. I like the way the painterly look emphasizes the elegance of the bird.
The image was processing using Corel Paint to achieve the classical oil painting look.
Great catch Anne. I really like the painted effect. Quite beautiful
Thank you very much Len, I do enjoy the painting! I have only done it a few times before but it is good fun. I got Corel Paint for free with my wacom tablet which I love. The tablet makes painting easier than using a mouse.
Wonderful capture and treatment Anne. Worthy of a large print!
Thank you so much Russ. Maybe when I can have possessions again I’ll get a print π
Beautiful shot…the birds are what I miss most a out living in West Palm BeacH.
Hi Rebecca. There are no birds there? Is it too populated? Those are some lovely florals on your website, I really like the textured ones. Thank you very much for your visit.
This is photography elevated to Art. Not only a great photograph but the processing has added another dimension. I love it!
What? I thought photography was already art?!? π I know what you mean though, it is fun to create a faux painting – I was never good at drawing or painting. Thank you very much for your compliment Andy.
A great image made even more amazing by your wonderful processing! Well done, a beautiful bird.
Hi Howard, wow thank you very much for your very kind compliment. It was fun to make.
Outstanding capture Anne and you’ve nailed the final output. A true artist.
Hi Edith. “A true artist” <-- wow that is a huge compliment, thank you!
Beautiful digital art Anne! I just found you on BP, your image of Jekyll Island was stunning. When I read your post about quitting your job to travel for a year I knew I had to check out your blog. I’m starting a new chapter in my life as well so I’m excited to hear about your travels. Thanks!
Phyllis, I looked at your website and wow, your horse portraits are absolutely stunning. Those are really jaw dropping gorgeous. I’m glad you like the blog and I hope some of my experiences will inspire you in whatever changes you are planning on making. Are you going travelling or changing careers or …. ? I really like to hear people’s stories about changing their lives so drop me an email if you want. Thank you very much for visiting my site and leaving your kind comments.
As an “artist” I also tried something new this week-end give me your feedback. Good processing. But your original photo is awesome
Thank you very much Robert. I left you some comments about your images on your blog. It’s fun to try something new and discover your inner artist!
I don’t find the birds in Oregon quite as interesting as the egrets, spoonbills, sandhill cranes, pelicans and herons in FL. :0) Thank you for the kind comments about my floral images.
Hi Rebecca, I thought West Palm Beach was in Florida. Is there one in Oregon too? Or maybe I misunderstood and you just moved to Oregon from West Palm Beach? Anyway, I completely understand, the birds in BC are not as interesting as Florida birds either. Thanks for your comments.
I lived in Oregon for 13 years then moved to WPB for seven years. Moved back to OR in 2007
How utterly beautiful Anne, great capture here my friend!
Thank you very much Toad! It’s not a beautiful painting of a toad like you have, but it’s almost as good π
