One of the short hikes we went on in Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, didn’t land me any landscape images. I really wasn’t expecting any wildlife images either given the name of the trail, “Elk River View Trail” where there is a viewing platform to watch the Roosevelt Elk.
Yeah, right!! Sure, there’s gonna be elk, pffft. Ok well I’ll give it a shot anyway.
You see on Vancouver Island everywhere you turn there are these “caution elk” roadsigns. You know the big yellow diamond shaped signs that might have a deer or if you’re in Newfoundland they have a moose. Well on Vancouver Island it is often an elk. Except I have lived here my whole life and I haven’t seen one yet. Not one!! I’ve seen them in the interior of BC, and in Arizona, but never here.
At least I got this image of a sooty grouse. I’ll take what I can get.
Beautiful shot Anne.
