My favourite thing about our summer home at Oceanside RV Park in Sidney, BC, (aside from it being 10 minutes away from where my boat is moored) is that every morning I wake to the sound of the eagles calling.
A few days ago the young eagles were cackling up a storm so I went out with my camera, only a few steps away from the RV, and made these images.

The pair were sitting on top of Douglas Fir trees across from each other with me in between them.
These are juvenile bald eagles. Their plumage remains mottled until they are about five years old. The one with the whiter head is probably three or four years old. The other one could be only one or two years old. But you can tell that it is a bald eagle, and not a golden eagle, because of it’s large head and beak.
