All photographers love a beautiful sunset, but there is something disappointing that happens when there is a gorgeous sunset but you don’t have anything interesting to put in front of it.
Usually I am prepared, it is just those occasions when I didn’t expect a good sunset that I am not prepared with an equally good subject.
One of those unexpected sunsets happened recently when I driving down the road in Borrego Springs, California, but even more surprising was this giant metal elephant sculpture exactly in the right location!
I mean, how often does that happen?

Borrego Springs has many of these sculptures decorating the town. You can see more them here.
Serendipitous

Very cool find and wonderful image Anne
Many thanks Len!
What a beautiful silhouette, Anne!
Thank you very much Lisa, it was a gorgeous sky that night and it would have been such a shame to not find a good subject to put in silhouette.
Oh my goodness! What an amazing photo! You should be extremely proud of this one! Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad you like it, thanks Mary!
Until you said it was metal I suspected you were taking photos deep in Africa on some safari or something, haha.
Haha, well I hope that is in my future, but so far I haven’t made it to my dream African safari. Your comments are always appreciated Devlin ๐
Love the shot! What wonderful colours! It must have been amazing to get to see them with your own eyes.
