Internet Break!
I’m going to be heading into a National Park for a few days and I wont have internet access. It’s Organ Pipe National Monument actually.
One of the things that is best about the national parks and national monuments is that the lack of cell towers forces you to step away from daily life and immerse yourself in nature. So not only no internet access, but no people wandering around with their heads in their phones!!
So I wont have any new blog posts for a couple of days.
Today’s Photo: Salton Sea Egret at Twilight
The Salton Sea has some of the best skies! When they are cloudy they are so dramatic, and when they are not cloudy they give the mostly lovely pastel shades.
It was a very peaceful evening as I watched this Great Egret strolling along the shore.
Beautiful image, Anne. Love the pastel colors. NEX6?
Thank you very much Ken. No actually I made this image with the Canon 7D. I knew I was going to photograph the birds, and I have a bigger lens with my Canon so I used it.
Lovely shot Anne. Actually Organ Pipe does have a slight signal at the visitor center with AT&T. Sometimes bounces down to Mexico so best not to count on it. Enjoy the park – it’s beautiful!
Thank you very much Russ. We stayed in the park for a couple of days and then headed back to the BLM land in Why. It is gorgeous in there!! All around here actually. I’m loving it.
There is no use to say that you are great photographer because you proved this thing many times. In this post, I am much impressed with your focusing style. How beautifully you capture this cutie pie. Guess, you focused on legs, Right??
Hi Listice, thank you very much for your comments. When I am photographing wildlife I always focus on the eyes. I find that if the eyes are in focus it doesn’t matter so much if any other part of the animal’s body is not in focus. But if the eyes aren’t sharp it doesn’t look right.
Thanks for the Tip. I always keep this thing keep mind. 🙂
Gorgeous! I love the rose colored water and sky. What camera and settings did you use?
Thank you very much Diane! I made this with my Canon 7D and my 70-300 IS USM lens. ISO 200, 300mm, f/5.6, 1/50th second. I’m surprised the shutter speed was that slow actually!
The pastel skies must be even better on person.
It’s good to disconnect from the internet now & again. I feel it allows the mind to really relax. No constant notifications, updates, etc. Just you and the world.
I agree, there are so many things to do on the computer as a photorapher between processing images, email, and social media. It’s wonderful to spend some time in nature with no distractions and just make new photos. Your comments are always appreciated Devlin, thanks.
What a beautiful photo of a beautiful bird(s)! Every aspect of this picture is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank Mary, I appreciate it.
