I think I could spend days photographing in this location. The only problem with it is that the campground bearing it’s name is extremely popular so there are always lots of people at Jumbo Rocks in Joshua Tree National Park.

Our RV is too big to fit in that campground, and I don’t think I would like being near so many people anyway, so we always stay at Belle Campground just a short drive away.
I made this photo just before the amazing sunset I shared with you earlier this week. You can see how the clouds are starting to break up and the colour is coming in. Always a good sign of a stellar sunset!
Great capture and really nice sunset.
Thank you Jim!
Really nice colors in this, well done!
Thank you very much Mike, I appreciate it.
The sunset creeping in is one of the first things I noticed, I love little things like that.
Thank you very much Devlin. I always enjoy watching the sunset slowly creep in and I especially enjoy how it moves across the sky.
This photo is perfect! It is very balanced and stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mary, glad you enjoyed it.
nice sunset indeed! and if you like huge boulders, check out hampi in india ๐
It might be awhile before I make it to India, but thanks for the recommendation and I’m glad you enjoyed the photo.
Amazing shots!!!
Do you recommend using ND filters? If yes, which one would you recommend?
Hi Vinod, yes I love using my ND filters. The thing to watch out for is the colour cast that you’ll see on some of the cheaper brands. I use Singh-Ray filters and I have a 2 stop hard grad, 2 stop reverse grad, 3 step soft grad, and a 4 stop solid. They’re pricey but I like them.
Thanks so much for sharing this dear Anne!
Thanks for your visit and comments Vinod!
Great composition and textures in the rocks and ground. Beautiful sunset colors.
Thank you very much Frederick, I appreciate that.
Beautiful photos Anne! I’m jealous of you’re travels. I’m glad you’re enjoying yourselves and you’re turning out some great work.
Thanks for your visit and comments Jesse! I hope you get a chance to travel if that is something you want to do in your life. I highly recommend it!
Love the shot – especially the way of including the plant on the right seems to just complete the image.
But I am wondering how you deal with people in such a popular location.
Hi hiss and stare until they get the message!! haha. I’m just kidding. I throw rocks. Actually I try to go during the week and be as patient as possible. Thanks for your visit and comments Bob.
Great shot! Did you use HDR?
Thank you very much Jay! No, this is a single exposure.
Love your blog and photos. My husband and I escaped reality and cruised in our motor-yacht for 4 years cruising 16,000 miles and visiting 13 countries – with 2 dogs, both now in doggy heaven. Yes it was wonderful! We have now thrown out the anchor in beautiful northern Idaho. Problem is, we still have itchy feet, so will purchase a motor-coach to see more of this great land. I love to photograph as well, problem is I never have time to do things like cook and clean because I’m always out wandering around. How do you do it all and stay sane? Perhaps I should just stay insane!! Best to you.
Hi Leslie, yes I recommend just staying insane! ๐ It’s hard to do everything, especially when I have so much to do on the computer with maintaining the blog and the community, writing eBooks, social media etc, and still have time to actually photograph and plan the next adventure. I still don’t have the solution for maintaining a good balance. You can only try! Thanks for your visit and comments.
