One of my favourite new finds from last winter’s snow bird trip is the City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico where I found a hedge of large sculpted boulders.
Most of the RV’s park just outside the rocks, but we managed to squeeze our RV into a site that backed right on to the rocks. What a great spot!
I made this panorama photo from another set of rocks across from the campground. Our RV is the one that is farthest away. Please click the photo to enjoy a larger version.
While I was photographing the panorama, Ray and Angie, being as agile as they are, managed to climb up on one of the rocks to enjoy the view of the campground.
It was like a tiny version of the Jumbo Rocks in Joshua Tree, but fascinating because they’re all thrown together with flat prairie all around and lovely rolling hills off in the distance. It’s a wonderful scene to make an image with a lot of depth to it.
As evening got closer the clouds started making interesting stripes in the sky, so I headed back towards the campground to find a grouping of rocks I scouted out earlier in the day for my sunset shot.
This place is high on my list to explore further next year.
This place is so amazing! Love the pictures!
Very nice, while I love your photos I need to be writing down your semi off the beaten track locations. You are finding some real gems!
