Driving through Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania, the sheer density of the animals is truly incredible.
There are so many large animals that some of the smaller animals take a back seat at first until you start becoming acclimated to the place. Then, it’s the combination of animals that becomes awe inspiring.
When I saw these crested crane’s it was a total surprise! On the lookout for elephants, zebras, and lions, I wasn’t even aware that crested cranes were on the menu. Their subtle beauty was striking.
I decided to process one of my crane images in a “high key” style because it was awfully bright! I really like the gazelle ๐
Both of these images were made with the Canon 6D and my 400mm lens at f/8. Even though it was bright, I used ISO800 to make sure I would get a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the motion of the birds in flight. These are both 1/2,000th of a second.
I love the 400mm lens! I have the little f/5.6L lens and it’s wonderful because it is light enough for hand holding and carrying.
Love the colors and sharpness of the the first image – Stunning! Thanks, Anne
