I like photographing all animals, not just the exotic ones. These Canada Geese were in the estuary behind our campsite in Campbell River, British Columbia.

When they first take off, their wings touch the water and create big splashes, and then they appear to run on top of the water. One of the things I like most about this photo is the pattern of splashes you can see from the geese that took off in front of these ones, leaving just their splashes behind. The geese taking off on the left are in the running position.

Canada Geese are the original aviators and are fascinating to observe any time.
